You. I know you, and I already like you.
You're looking for a talented and creative professional that's easy to work with. But to you "easy to work with" isn't the dead-eyed nodding of a well-oiled animatron. Nor is it a barrage of blind, yes-man fawning and keyboard slapping as the money-meter ticks ominously in the distance. Yikes!
No, you want a writer and editor who will actively listen to you and work with you – not because of you. Imagine! One who will ask thoughtful questions to shape a mutual understanding of how compelling, well-crafted language and storytelling will help you achieve your goals. Damn, it seems so simple!
Well, smarty, you've come to the right place! Here are some ways we can work together.
STORY MINING
In a STORY MINING session, we'll use traditional archetypes to unearth your central brand character. We'll identify the kinds of stories you should be telling. And we'll match your most relevant and potent experiences to your storytelling profile. And whatever we dig becomes a bridge to a new landscape of opportunity.
Developmental editing
(& other consulting)
Deep in the weeds of a project? I help authors, filmmakers, and other creatives with global-level narrative strategy. I'll help you find your focus and honor it, and I'll ask the questions that yank the answers you need but are too close to see.
I also offer a web-copy review and a power hour of consulting for focused task-tackeling.
Copywriting
Words like magnets, baby! My main focus is web page content, including landing/sales pages. And I offer a web start-up package as well as a retainer bundle for ongoing content. I can also help you punch up a text, or just make it read real extra gooder overall. In short, I'll add the appropriate special sauce.
say hello
to my little form
Use the form on the contact page to send me a message, ideally with a clear sense of what you've got cooking. Then I'll get back to you within two days to set up a 15-minute call to touch base.
We chat,
like old chums
We'll have a free, no obligation call (phone or Zoom) to talk about your project, vision, and goals. It will be pain-free, efficient, and perhaps even somewhat magical. Then we'll part and muse about our futures.
un-boring
onboarding
If we mutually agree to advance, the project will dictate next steps. This is when a contract gets winged your way. Some projects come with an invoice for partial pay, and for most I'll slide some additional questions your way via a Google Doc.

Think think think, work work work. Think work think work, think think work, and done and send and yay.
feed me
your feedback
Torpedo me with your spiciest thoughts and questions. I'll internalize your ideas and whip up a fresher batch of awesome. Rinse and repeat if necessary. You have up to two rounds of revisions, no extra charge. When we’re through that tunnel, I’ll invoice you for the balance.

The time for ebullient disco dancing. We’ll wrap up, and I'll probably fire you an exit survey for feedback so I can continue to butter myself (damn autocorrect! I meant... no, that was right). This being the end of the ride, it may also be time to discuss a long-term engagement. #PutARetainerOnIt
Creativity
My graduate degree and years of practice in creative writing allow me to work in a variety of styles and capture your voice in the most efficient and effective way. Even my passion pursuits are up your ally: chances are you won't need a poem (but you'll need well-chosen, evocative words and phrases) or a song (but you'll want well-structured writing with a cohesive theme and strong verbal rhythm). See what I did there? Storytelling, vivid language, deft metaphors, etc. – what's mine is yours.
PROFESSIONALISM
I deliver high quality work, on time. I know EVERYONE says that, but this time it's true. Honestly, breaking my commitments racks me with guilt and shame, so I don't do it. Lucky for you, my personality hang-ups should play nicely in your favor. In short, I believe in open communication and mutual happiness. If you don’t… um, this is awkward now.
VERSATILITY
I've journeyed a wide range of verticals: hospitality, tech, non-profit, luxury goods, financial, service, wedding, entertainment, and so on into infinity. Each has demanded a different combination of tone, positioning, word-bundling. And I find that delightful. Furthermore, I'll add that I enjoy research because research is learning and learning is living (see SonVolt’s timeless “Tear-Stained Eye” for more on this concept). I feel okay going off the rails at the end there, because there's no way you've gotten his far. But if you have, please enjoy.
