Demographics
I was told to start with a bio! My poetry has appeared in Sonora Review, Santa Clara Review, Interim, and elsewhere, and I write and perform music as a solo artist and with my handsome bandmates in Loose Freight and Ceretana. I mean, damn, you have no idea how handsome these bastards are!
In other news, I have an MFA in Creative Writing from Colorado State University, where I taught writing and literature for many years. Now I live in Portland, Oregon, where I work as a writer and editor of Language Arts curriculum, which is a lot like teaching except you’re allowed to wear a robe to work. I’m currently chugging along on my first novel, which has some time travel and probably too many exclamation points and defintely isn’t the least bit autobiographical.
Thanks for stopping by!
FICTION
The Backwards Jump
I’m currently tapping away at a speculative novel called The Backwards Jump. The escalator pitch: Tasked with writing the eulogy for his estranged father, Will O’Malley learns he can leap into the past to learn the objective truths behind the tall-tales of his family history, which helps him better understand the inhereted burdens of both his father and himself.
Spoiler alert: Teddy Roosevelt shows up! Long story short, my great-grandfather peed next to Teddy while he was tiling Teddy’s house. What do you do with such information? Apparently, you write a novel.
